Stefanie Abdayem is a doctor of audiology who has earned her Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Dr. Abdayem attended Newman University for a year, then transferred to Wichita State University where she completed her bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Doctorate of Audiology. Initially, she was interested in speech pathology, but once she realized the immediate gratification patients experience through clinical therapies, she knew audiology was her future.
“I found it so rewarding to develop a relationship with a patient, counsel them on their hearing and improve their quality of life,” Dr. Abdayem said. “Public knowledge around hearing aids is limited, so we educate each patient and help them choose a device that’s great quality and within their budget.”
Dr. Abdayem appreciates the culture of teamwork among the doctors and providers at Mid-Kansas ENT. “We do whatever we can to help each other and help our patients,” she said.
Dr. Abdayem grew up in Wichita and, except for a one-year externship with an additional year of employment in Kansas City, has made Wichita her home. It is, after all, where she grew up working in her parents’ restaurant business, and where she cherishes time spent spoiling her nieces and nephews.
“I want every patient to feel empowered with their hearing. I want to address their concerns, answer their questions and help them feel confident about their hearing.”
